Music Review : Wake Me Up (2013)

WAKE ME UP (2013)

Wake me up was released on 29th July 2013. The genre of the music is EDM and folktronica, and the duration of this song is 4 minutes and 9 seconds. Wake me up was in the album 'True' which has already released on the 13th of September 2013. The singer of this song is Avicii. Avicii's real name is Tim Bergling. He was a Swedish DJ, record producer, and remixer. He was born on 8 September 1989 in Stockholm. He died on 20 April 2018 because he committed suicide by self-inflicted injuries using a broken glass bottle. Avicii has a medical history. On January 2012, he was admitted for 11 days to New York City Hospital because of acute pancreatitis caused by excessive alcohol use.

The wake me up by Avicii music video is about a sibling who got hated by the villagers. Whenever the sibling walks around in the neighborhood, people look at them with disgusted faces and revulsion feelings except for this one girl. The sibling had an Avicii logo birthmark. The next day, the older sister rode a horse and got to a city. She found another girl who had an Avicii logo birthmark too. They got in the trunk and went to the Avicii concert. She looks amused and thrilled. She comes to the village to pick up her little sister and moves out of the town to go "somewhere they belong". The end of the wake me up music video was the sibling walk on the highways and footage of Avicii's concert.

The song lyrics appear to be real-life events. On Today (website) 2nd August 2014, one of the songwriters of this song, Aloe Blacc said he had realized his life was too good to believe. He was on the bus, traveling back from Switzerland. Aloe Blacc was thinking to himself. `My life is such a dream. Wake me up when it’s all over, and he starts writing the lyrics.

In my personal opinion, I enjoyed this song. The beat was unforgettable and easy on the ear. The lyrics were easy to pronounce and reminisce. I like the melody. The lyrics "All this time I was finding myself, and I didn't know I was lost" was related to me and those who are lost finding themselves.

To wrap things up, Wake Me Up by the late Swedish DJ, Avicii was about the fact that life's a journey, and what is ahead unknown, but you know where to start. I would strongly recommend this song to those who are afraid to experience new things because they don't know what happens next, then this song is perfect for you. Life is all about you giving something a try, don't be afraid of what others talk about you, and just enjoying what you love to do.
