Poster: Barack Obama 'Hope' poster (2008)
Barack Hussein Obama known as
Barack Obama was a president who served country 44th in the United States along
with Joe Biden. He was born on August 4, 1961. He worked as a civil rights
lawyer before he joined politics. He served in the United States for 8years.
Starting from January 20, 2009, until January 20, 2017. He studied at
Occidental College Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts and Harvard Law
with Juris Doctor.
In 2008, Shepard Fairey is
American artist designed a poster for Barack Obama and represent Barack Obama
in his presidential campaign it is a stylized stencil portrait of Obama in the
color of solid red, beige, and light blue accompanied by the word HOPE. As well
as, the color represents the United States. In the first place, the words
PROGRESS and CHANGED have also been used on some posters. Nevertheless, HOPE
became the most famous and well-known poster. Fairey used references to picture
Barack Obama from a 2006 media event, the original photos came from Mannie
Garcia that is the photographer. Fairey created the poster in one day and
printed it as a street poster. The poster becomes iconic because many fans can
show their support for Barack Obama. Before this, Fans had a bit of merchandise
for Barack Obama. However, after Fairey designed this poster, many people used
it as a profile picture, t-shirt design, coffee mug design, and some sort of
merchandise. After Barack Obama won the election in 2009, The Smithsonian
Institution acquired Fairey's work to use for their National Portrait
Gallery.
To sum things up, I think the
poster was a good advantage to do in the matter of, the presidential election.
It is because the fans of the candidate can show their support without
condemning others candidates. And it is a good design for the presidential
election as the poster was not condemning other parties. In addition, it has
meaning behind the poster.
